Dr Imtiaz Suliman slams reports that Gift of the Givers is funding terrorism

Gift of the Givers founder Dr Imtiaz Suliman has responded to allegations that his organization is funding terrorism.

This comes after a Jewish human rights lawyer said in an open letter that Gift of the Givers donates money to groups blacklisted by the US government as terrorist organizations.

Mantashe’s rallying cry: hard work is key to reviving ANC support

ANC national chairman Gwede Mantashe says if the party’s representatives in the government of national unity (GNU) work hard, they will increase the ANC’s dwindling support.

Mantashe was speaking at a wreath laying ceremony at the grave of ANC veteran Oliver Reginal Tambo in Ekurhuleni on Sunday.

Mantashe said ANC ministers could restore confidence in the party if they spoke about their achievements in their portfolios.

The department expressed concern about several cases of food poisoning that had an impact on learning, saying school time was being used to provide medical care to affected students.

At least seven children have died and dozens of others across Gauteng have been hospitalized after eating the snacks, mostly from spa stores.

Zimbabwean woman sentenced to 5 years probation for child abuse

Burgersfort Regional Court sentenced a 32-year-old woman to five years’ imprisonment, suspended for five years, for child cruelty and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).

The defendant, a foreigner, was also sentenced to three years of correctional supervision.

The court heard that in October 2023, the woman, a Zimbabwean national, abused and assaulted her 10-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son in their home.

Sundowns suffer shock defeat to City

Polokwane City caused a stunning upset with a 1-0 win over defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in a Betway Premiership match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Bulelani Nikani scored the only goal of the match out of 82.nd minute as Sundowns suffered their first defeat of the season.

It was a deserved victory for the Limpopo team, who played without fear and looked the hungrier of the two teams. They limited Sundowns to zero shots on target for the entire 90 minutes.

‘Shaka iLembe’ dominates SAFTA with 12 awards: highlights and major wins

Shaka and Lembe dominated the 18th Annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA18) on 25 and 26 October, winning 12 awards.

The main ceremony, hosted by Lerato Kganyago-Ndlala and Skumba Hlophe, took place at the Gallagher Conference Center and celebrated South African film and television talent under the theme “Back to Basics”.
