Halloween fun, business tips, a Vietnamese movie and a volunteer fair coming up at the Library.

Get ready for a series of exciting events that will spark your imagination in the Library! Families will enjoy spooky fun, while budding entrepreneurs will find inspiration and guidance to kickstart their dreams. Plus, immerse yourself in compelling stories and connect with local organizations that need your help—there’s something for everyone!

Fairy tales and entertainment “Trick or treat”

Families with children from babies to 6 years old are invited to join us for some exciting Halloween fun.

  • Monster Mash Storytime: Join us for spooky fun with not-so-scary stories, crafts and activities at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the Strafford Branch Library.

  • Halloween Story Time: Dress up and enjoy not-so-spooky stories, songs and a parade of candy around the library on Thursday, October 31 at 9:30 and 10:30 in the Library Center auditorium.

  • Not So Scary Story: Enjoy spooky stories, songs and more during our Halloween-themed story that will keep you up at night at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Fairbanks Community Center.

Boots for business reboot

Have you ever dreamed of owning and running your own business? Learn what it takes to become an entrepreneur with award-winning guest speakers who will discuss how to develop business concepts and planning, market research, financing and more from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm on Wednesday, November 6 in the Auditorium Library Center. . This workshop is open to veterans and military personnel. Lunch will be provided. Presented in partnership with Simmons Bank, the U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE Southwest Missouri and the Veterans Business Assistance Center. “Voices from Vietnam”

Watch the award-winning, unrated film Voices from Vietnam, featuring an original story by Vietnam War veteran Larry Rottmann and directed by Mark Biggs, which includes dozens of first-hand photographs and film footage of Vietnam from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. . Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Library Center auditorium. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Rottmann and Biggs.

Community Volunteer Fair

Want to make a difference in our community? Explore volunteer opportunities with over 50 local nonprofits and grab great gifts. Find out about organizations that would appreciate finding a volunteer like you to help them achieve their goals from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Library Center Auditorium.
