Kerry Kennedy has revealed her dog was killed in a “horrific and brutal” attack hours after the death of her mum Ethel Kennedy.

In message published October X, 24Kerry Kennedy detailed how her dog, Bellini, was attacked and killed by a neighbor’s dog outside her home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. She wrote that her daughter Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo was with her when the incident occurred on October 10, just “hours” after her mom died due to complications associated with stroke.

“Out of nowhere, a neighbor’s dog attacked, attacked and killed Bellini. It was unspeakably horrific and cruel,” Kerry Kennedy wrote.

She said the “only meaning” she could make was that her mom wanted a “travel companion on her journey.”

“She got the best of Bellini,” Kerry Kennedy continued.

Kerry Kennedy, one of 11 children of Ethel and Robert F. Kennedyexplained that the attack had “destroyed” the owner of a neighbor’s dog, expressing concern and offering to help her.

“He called me yesterday and told me he sent his beloved dog away and we both cried on the phone together over the loss of our pets,” she wrote.

Kerry Kennedy said she took time to reflect on her feelings about the tragedy.

“Reflecting on this episode, I am heartbroken to have lost my beautiful companion, and I am also grateful that I have a neighbor who has been kind to me since then and who, instead of taking an easy position of defense, denial and blame , made a difficult decision for the greater good,” Kerry Kennedy continued. “I’m sad, but I also know I’m lucky.”
