Two teens face charges after officer nearly hits stolen truck

Two teenagers have been arrested after an incident in which an officer was nearly hit by a stolen truck.

The incident began around 10:40 a.m. Friday. According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, an officer saw a blue 2018 Ford F150 traveling south on Highway 9 in Lake George, south of Diamond Point Road. He confirmed the license plate matched a vehicle reported stolen in Washington County.

The police tried to stop the truck, but the driver refused to comply. Another officer set up stop sticks in the area of ​​Highway 9 and Hubble Lane. The 15-year-old driver intentionally tried to hit the officer’s car, but both of his right tires were punctured. The truck continued on its way and eventually pulled into the parking lot of Shoreline Boat Sales.

The driver and 17-year-old passenger were arrested. The 15-year-old was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, attempted assault, unlawful escape, reckless endangerment and multiple traffic violations. The 17-year-old was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and was issued a warrant out of Albany County.

Both were scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon in Warren County Family Court.
