Suspect dies in officer-involved shooting in Phoenix; no officers were injured

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A suspect is dead after a Phoenix police shooting late Monday night.

The shooting happened around 10 p.m. near 15th and Wear Avenue.

Police said they received a call about a home being burglarized. When they responded, the suspect was in the vehicle and police began a pursuit.

The suspect crashed his vehicle into a retaining wall in the area of ​​15th and Vir, police said. He then exited the vehicle with two pistols.

Officers attempted to detain him, but police say that’s when he pointed the gun at officers, who then opened fire.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured as a result of the shooting.

There are no other suspects.

This investigation is still ongoing.

This is the 46th officer-involved shooting in Maricopa County this year and the 79th in Arizona.
