Reiterating its unwavering support for Israel in its fight against Hamas-Hezbollah terrorism, the United States on Saturday warned Iran against retaliating after Israeli precision strikes at military facilities of the former, leading to the killing of at least four Iranian soldiers.

“I emphasized that the United States is well positioned to protect American forces and assets throughout the region, and made clear that Iran should not make the mistake of responding to Israeli strikes that should spell the end of this exchange,” US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. This is stated in the message on X.

Meanwhile, Iran warned on Saturday that it would defend itself after Israeli airstrikes, and Israel warned that the Islamic Republic would have to “pay a heavy price” if it retaliated.

Recent developments in Israel’s conflict with Iran and Hamas have raised fears of a full-scale war, despite frantic diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
