Tri-Angle Sports Club returns the Toys for Tots match

TAZEWELL, Va. (WVVA) – The Tri-Angle Sportsmen’s Club hosts matches from time to time to give local gun enthusiasts the opportunity to compete together. However, their match on Saturday had another goal: to raise toys and funds for local group Toys for Tots.

“When you start an initiative like Toys for Tots, you never know what you will learn about your region. You know, I’m a new coordinator this year, so going into this year, I never would have thought that the Tri-Angle Athletes Club and Tony Graham would contact me to say, “Hey, we’re hosting an event.” for you…” so, you know, it’s great… it’s humbling and we’re very grateful,” says Charlie Smith, coordinator of local community organization Toys For Tots.

The club first started fundraising last year and, following its success, made it an annual event. They say they wanted to use their talents and resources to help the community and found Toys for Tots a great way to do that.

“Well, some of them wouldn’t have any gift under the tree if it weren’t for Toys for Tots, so it’s a great organization, they try to take care of as many kids as they can serve, and they do. outstanding job,” says Tony Graham, president of the Tri-Angle Athletic Club.

While they may look like just toys, Smith says, they can mean much more to the children who receive them.

“…There are many different influences on children and perhaps without that reinforcement at Christmas, you hear a lot of horror stories about children suffering from depression and anxiety and this can be a contributing factor to the problems. this nature. You know, not to mention it’s just, you know, it’s really sad to think about kids waking up on Christmas morning and not having anything under the tree to open…,” Smith says.

Smith says the need for toys in the area is great each year, but the need could be greater this year, and with many still recovering from the hurricane, donations have been slow to come in. However, he plans for the community to step up to help make sure no child goes without a toy this Christmas.

Graham says they plan to continue to help Toys for Tots run these matches in the future. You can go to the Triangle Sports Club. website for more information about the range.

However, you don’t have to wait until next year to make a donation to help meet the toy need in the area. Just look for Toys for Tots boxes set up throughout the area or stop by the Princeton Toys for Tots store. website to learn more about how to donate.
