Earlier this month, Rivera, a longtime Republican, announced his support Democratic candidate Kamala Harris over GOP candidate Donald Trump, his former friend of many years, in the 2024 election.

“If you are a Republican, Donald Trump has made you look like a liar,” he explained his decision. “He cajoled and intimidated tens of millions of people into pretending that he was re-elected in 2020 and that the election was stolen.”

Trump stabbed “the Constitution in the back” on January 6, 2021, “provoking and unleashing a violent attack on the center of democracy, the US Capitol, for which he was impeached,” he added.
