Spanish Springs school without school after flood damages school

The Washoe County School District canceled classes at Spanish Springs High School on Monday after a broken sprinkler caused extensive damage and flooded the school in Sparks.

Staff and cleaners worked Monday morning to clean up the school, according to the district. The district also said the school is being inspected for damage.

There was no immediate information on whether the damage was so extensive that classes had to be canceled for additional days.

Dear Spanish Springs High School Families, This is a message on behalf of Principal Sean Hall with important information that I want to share with you:

Spanish Springs High School suffered significant flood damage as a result of a broken sprinkler. Our cleaning crews and facilities management staff are working to clean the school and ensure the safe return of our students and staff to classes.

Unfortunately, we must cancel school for today, Monday, October 28, so that the damage can be located and repaired.

Once again, classes for Monday, October 28th are canceled due to flooding at the school.
