LAFCA Launches 50th Anniversary Series at The Egypt

EXCLUSIVE: The Los Angeles Film Critics Association is gearing up for a special annual series of screenings in collaboration with Egyptian theater this will begin in January 2025. Waiting to launch LAFKA — which is organizing an event to celebrate its 50th anniversary — has announced two preview dates with filmmakers this year Michael Mann And Todd Hayneswhose questions and answers will be moderated by participants.

Featuring award-winning guests, archival prints and lengthy conversations, the series launches on November 18 with a double feature from Mann. Insider And Heat. His conversation will be moderated New Yorkerfilm critic Justin Chang takes a break between films. Next month, December 9th, Haynes Safe will be shown next Caroland the director will appear between questions and answers Los Angeles Times” editor Joshua Rothkopf.

The 2025 Film Series aims to celebrate the organization’s half-century of existence and highlight the films that have honored the group since its founding in 1975. The full list of participants and guests will be announced later.

“When the Egyptian team approached us with the opportunity to collaborate on program development, we were thrilled,” said LAFCA Vice President Katie Walsh. “This is the perfect location in the heart of Hollywood where we can showcase some of our favorite films, as well as showcase the incredible talent we have awarded over our rich 50-year history as an organization. We are thrilled to share these events with Los Angeles’ enthusiastic film community.”
