Polling shows abortion rights enforcement in Florida barely reaches acceptable levels; it will take undecided voters to break through

To pass amendments on the ballot in Florida, 60% support is required.

A measure that would protect abortion rights in the Florida Constitution has yet to gain support for passage on Election Day.

These are the findings of a new survey conducted Polls of St. Petersburgconducted for Florida Politics magazine, which shows Amendment 4 unsuccessful. vote It found that nearly 54% of voters would support the measure, but Florida law requires 60% of voters on the ballot to vote yes for it to be enshrined in the constitution.

The poll found that just under 38% of voters oppose the initiative. This means that supporters of the amendment need to win over the majority of undecided voters, who make up 8% of those surveyed.

Pollsters report the margin of error is 2.8 percentage points. The results are based on responses from 1,227 likely voters surveyed in the general election from Oct. 23 to 25.

But even there, less than 58% of those who have already voted say they support Amendment 4, and 37% say they voted against it; the remaining 5% did not say whether they voted for the measure one way or the other or left it blank.

The poll found nearly 79% of Democrats support the ballot measure, while 15% oppose it. Republicans, by contrast, violated it 59% to 32%. A majority of independent voters, nearly 57%, support the amendment, while 36% are strongly against it.

Nearly 66% of voters age 29 and younger plan to support Amendment 4, but no other age group has polls that exceed 60% support.

This measure is supported by about 55% of women and 53% of men.
