Stolen Cocker Spaniel puppies rescued

Four puppies were rescued by police after being stolen on Sunday evening.

The seven-week-old cocker spaniels were stolen during a robbery in Kello, leaving their mother Freckles heartbroken, Durham Police said.

Officers have now found four puppies which are being looked after at Bishop Auckland Police Station. One remains missing.

A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in custody.

According to police, the puppies had only recently been separated from their mother, who was in the house at the time of the robbery.

“We have very good news,” a Durham Police spokesman said.

“We are pleased to announce that four puppies have been found and are now resting at Bishop Auckland Police Station.

“We are still looking for another puppy that we believe may have been sold.”

Anyone with information about the stolen puppy is asked to contact police.
