Telford Manufacturer Award Nomination

The company, which specializes in thermal insulation and temperature control products, has been shortlisted for an Innovation Award in a competition run by TheBusinessDesk.com.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at Macdonald Burlington in Birmingham city center on February 13th.

The judging panel included Eleanor Deeley, Managing Director of Deeley Group, Tony Haig, Chief Executive of PP Control & Automation, Darcy Laceby, Co-Founder and HR and Product Director at Absolute Collagen, Paul Faulkner, Co-Founder of Element45 and Nikki Paterson, Midlands Regional Director at CBI .

SMI is the inventor of Tempro, an award-winning lightweight insulating material that has been scientifically proven to reduce energy loss by at least 25 percent in refrigerators and by as much as 33 percent in freezers.

It remains undisputed as the thinnest and most thermally efficient material in the world and is used in products sold throughout the world.

The company’s latest range of roll-on protective covers, produced for the co-operative to protect bananas during transport between distribution centers and retailers, won the Material Handling Equipment Supplier of the Year award at last year’s UK Cold Chain Awards.

Earlier this year, SMI was also shortlisted in the Technology Breakthrough category at this year’s Cold Chain Sustainability Awards.
