Serious accident closes portion of US 60 at Apache Junction

APACHE JUNCTION, Arizona (AZFamily) — A portion of U.S. 60 is closed in the East Valley following a crash early Monday morning.

The collision occurred just after 1 p.m. in the eastbound lanes. US 60 near Meridian Road. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a westbound pickup truck hauling a trailer loaded with pipes crossed into the eastbound lanes and crashed, spilling pipes onto the roadway.

All eastbound traffic is being diverted onto Signal Butte Road. ADOT says there is no estimated opening time for US 60 yet and drivers should expect delays.

It is unknown how many people were injured. Stay tuned.
