Sticky Fingers NZ frontman Dylan Frost will fight allegations he stole chicken and coffee from Woolworths

Frost’s girlfriend, Elissa Ford, 23, also allegedly stole Life Savers Raspberry Fizz Stix from the same Woolworths at the same time.

The pair entered pleas of innocence in August, with Ford facing single charges of theft of goods valued at less than A$2,000 and possession of a controlled substance.

Representing Frost, attorney Robert Candelori asked for the case to be set for a hearing in July 2025, when his client will defend a shoplifting charge.

Frost will appear in court next month.

The 34-year-old musician is the lead vocalist and guitarist of Sydney indie rock band Sticky Fingers, which took a two-year hiatus in 2016 following a series of allegations against Frost.

He was accused of racism, sexism, transphobia and violent behavior, and in an interview with the Triple J radio show Hackresponded to his past antics by declaring, “Boys will be boys.”

In a statement to Instagram, the band said the comments were “in no way intended to suggest that we are not truly on the path to positive change.”

A month after the interview, Frost was kicked out of Sydney’s Kelly’s on King pub in Newtown after another incident with Music reported that he was taken out of the premises after a verbal altercation with model Alexandra Tanygina. Australian reported that Frost told Tanygina that “he hates transgender feminists, that he can’t be sexist because his mother was a feminist, and he can’t be racist because he’s Maori.”

Frost isn’t the only band member to face backlash. In 2021, bassist Paddy Cornwall pleaded guilty following a fight with Frost at a bowling alley in Marrickville, during which he reportedly punched the frontman, who was also charged and was later admitted to rehab, 26 times in the head.

Frost has previously said he suffers from “alcohol addiction and mental health issues” and has been diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia.

In 2022 Frost flew off stage at a concert in Melbournelater apologizing on Facebook.

In March 2023, Sticky Fingers were dropped from the Bluesfest lineup due to criticism over their inclusion.

Also in 2023, a writer close to the group, Nelson Groom, released a book. Belly of the Beast: On the Road with Sticky Fingersbased on their 2019 Tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Frost grew up in Auckland, where his mother owned a club, and the book details their time on Grace Avenue and the family’s move to Australia to start over.

“Groom paints a troubled portrait of Frost as an ‘anti-social butterfly’ – he was known to disappear for long periods of time and was often difficult to find before performances.” wrote Herald reviewer Ben Thomsett. “The book goes on to detail that Frost was admitted to rehab.”

Freezing returned to New Zealand in 2019 he stopped by Bay of Plenty and worked with Tiki Taane on his debut solo EP, Lush linguistic.
