iOS 18.1 fixes several annoying bugs and nearly 30 security flaws

Apple just released iOS 18.1. Despite the introduction Apple Intelligence and several other settings for iPhone users. This major software update also fixes nearly 30 security flaws and several annoying bugs. However, even if you don’t care about the latest features, updating to iOS 18.1 is essential to keep your iPhone safe from hackers and bugs.

Here are the iOS 18.1 bug fixes, including one that causes the iPhone to reboot out of nowhere:

  • Control Center now has new options for adding individual connection controls and resetting configurations.
  • RCS Business Messaging allows you to connect with businesses through RCS (carrier support required).
  • App Store Search allows you to use natural language to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
  • Game Center friend invitations can be sent directly from the Contacts and Friend Suggestions app, and recipients can see the invitations in their Inbox in Settings.
  • Fixed an issue in Podcasts where unplayed episodes were marked as played.
  • Fixes an issue where videos recorded in 4K 60 when the device is warm could become stuck when clearing video playback in Photos.
  • Fixes an issue that prevents digital car keys from unlocking or starting the vehicle with passive entry after restoring from a backup or transferring directly from another iPhone.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Pro models to restart unexpectedly.

Apart from this, Apple is also fixing several security flaws that affect most iPhone models. For example, one of the fixes concerns accessibility. An attacker with physical access to a locked device can view confidential information. Another flaw could allow a malicious application to launch arbitrary shortcuts without user consent from application support.

iOS 18.1 also fixes bugs in Safari, Shortcuts, Siri, and other apps. Full list available here. However, even if you don’t get Apple Intelligence, you should upgrade your iPhone now.
