Flint introduces enhanced security measures at city council meetings

FLINT, Mich. (WNEM) – The Flint Police Department announced that in light of recent events at City Council meetings where firearms were drawn, enhanced security measures are being implemented to protect community members and City Council meetings.

A review of security protocols has already been implemented and will be used, according to Flint Police Chief Terence Greene.

Key security measures include increased police presence, police escorts, video surveillance, social media monitoring and increased staffing.

Green also noted that City Council rules regarding meetings and the processes themselves will be improved.

The police chief also urged if anyone knows of any personal intent that could interfere with city council meetings or community members to report that information to Flint police.
