Pine Ridge man pleads guilty to assault of 2-month-old baby

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Cynt White Butterfly, 25, of Pine Ridge, pleaded guilty to assault causing serious bodily injury in federal court Tuesday morning after initially pleading not guilty in September. .

The charges stem from incidents that occurred in August. In a factual statement, White Butterfly said she lost her temper and attacked the infant, who was between one and two months old at the time.

As a result of the attack, the infant suffered numerous injuries, including:

Almost all ribs are broken
Fractures of the femur of both the right and left femur.
Fracture of the right tibia
Right wrist fracture
Intracranial hemorrhage
Fracture of the right half of the skull.

White Butterfly could face life in prison and a $250,000 fine. He will be sentenced on January 6, 2025.
