Popular metal band ditches phones for upcoming world tour

Swedish metal band Ghost there’s a remedy for concertgoers who are tired of staring at other fans’ smartphones.

The band recently announced a world tour in April 2025, and fans looking to purchase tickets should read the fine print below. This tour will be a “phone-free experience” where fans will be required to place their devices in Yondr bag upon entering the premises. Don’t worry; bags are unlocked in certain phone zones if you have an emergency.

“This show will be without a phone. Phones will be stored in Yondr cases. Guests always have their phones with them.”

Musicians such as Jack White, Alicia Keys and comedians Dave Chappelle and Jerrod Carmichael have used Yondr bags at their concerts to encourage people to live in the moment.

This won’t be the first time Ghost has been left without a phone. During the band’s Sept. 11 and 12 shows last year at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, they implemented the same policy as the concerts were filmed for their Rite Here Rite Now. The lead singer of Papa Emeritus IV expressed satisfaction with the process in an interview with the magazine Rock Sound:

“I’ve never seen a crowd interact like they did since I was in a club band. Those were the best shows I ever did with Ghost, simply because I didn’t have to see those damn cell phones.”
