World Series Game 5 picks, predictions, odds

The Bronx Bombers escaped the sweep Tuesday with a dominant 11-4 win over the Dodgers to secure their fifth game in the tournament. World Series.

If baseball’s momentum rests on the next day’s pitcher, the Yankees are in a decent position as their ace, Gerrit Cole, should take the mound.

Wednesday’s matchup will be a rematch of Game 1, with the Dodgers facing Jack Flaherty.

The Los Angeles right-handed pitcher scattered four hits over five innings until Giancarlo Stanton hit a home run 412 feet into left field.

Just before pitching, Flaherty felt uncomfortable trying to shake his right leg. He later reported some tightness in his hamstring, although the Dodgers believe it is a minor issue.

However, the Yankees will view this opportunity to return to the series as an opportunity to make their players extremely attractive for Game 5.

Dodgers vs. Yankees props: Juan Soto over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs (-120, BetMGM)

Soto went 0-for-6 on Tuesday in his last at-bat with a double to right field.

This extra blow comes at just the right time as he prepares to face Flaherty again.

The Yankees slugger cleared that pylon with one hit against Flaherty in the series opener when he hit a solo home run to right field.

Soto later added a single in the ninth inning to end the day with two hits.

It’s unlikely that a hitter of Soto’s caliber will endure long periods of decline.

He’s topped that mark in five of his previous six games, 15 of his last 20 and nine of his 17 head-to-head games against the Dodgers.

With temperatures in the low to mid 60s and wind gusts of six to eight miles per hour in left field, conditions should be ideal for a slugger like Soto to drive the ball and have a good day at the plate.

Dodgers vs. Yankees prop: Alex Verdugo with over 0.5 total bases (-140, rate365)

There’s no place like home for Verdugo, as the Yankees left fielder has successfully reached base with hits in seven straight games at Yankee Stadium.

As a result, it is no surprise that bookmakers now inflate this odds to -150 on some books.

However, a closer look reveals that bettors have been favorably backing Verdugo in this situation over the past few seasons.

Verdugo recorded at least one base hit in 66% of 2023 home games (47 of 71) and 59% of 2024 home games (47 of 80).

He has surpassed that mark in nine of his last 10 home games and 16 of his previous 20.

He has also eclipsed that line in eight of his last 10 head-to-head meetings with the Dodgers.

Verdugo is also 2-for-6 in his career against Flaherty.

Dodgers vs. Yankees prop: Freddie Freeman under 0.5 outs (+145, BetMGM)

Even though he lost, Freeman still managed to get into the MLB record books.

He became the first player to homer in the first four games of the World Series and also broke George Springer’s record of five straight games by hitting a home run in the Fall Classic.

Freeman sees the ball exceptionally well and looks fully recovered from the ankle injury that plagued him earlier in the postseason.

The Dodgers first baseman had about a week off after the Dodgers won the pennant and have yet to bat in the World Series.

It didn’t take him long to get on base as he hit a triple in his first at-bat against Cole in the first game.

Let’s hope he can keep this streak alive for one more game.
