As October comes to an end, Stop & Shops stores in five states will open their doors in November.

Grocer first announced the closure of 32 “underperforming” stores in Julysaying the closure of nearly three dozen Northeast offices will “ensure the company’s growth.” All stores will be closed on or before Saturday, November 2nd.

“Stop & Shop is proud of the deep roots and community ties we’ve developed as a local grocer for more than 100 years, and we remain committed to supporting our partners, customers and communities,” Stop & Shop President Gordon Reed, This is stated in the July press release. “Stop & Shop assessed its overall store portfolio and made the difficult decision to close underperforming stores to create a healthy foundation for the future growth of our brand.”

The grocery chain, owned by Ahold Delhaize USA, will continue to operate 350 stores in five states. The closure announcement said employees at the affected stores would be offered positions in other parts of the company.

“Our employees are a strong community committed to growth and collaboration, and all of our store associates will continue to have a place within the Stop & Shop family as we look forward to serving customers at other nearby locations,” added Reed.

Stop & Shop did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Following the closure, Stop & Shop will continue to operate 81 stores in Connecticut, 115 in Massachusetts, 47 in New Jersey, 91 in New York and 25 in Rhode Island, employing more than 50,000 employees.

One location in Newton, Massachusetts, closed in August and the rest of the state closed on Thursday, according to local reports. Shrewsbury and Worcester stores will donate leftover food to the Worcester County Food Bank. Worcester Telegram & Gazette reportedpart of the USA TODAY Network.

IN Rhode Island, The Providence Eastside Market will close Friday and the Johnston Market will close Thursday afternoon. local WPRI outlet reported.

All affected locations in Connecticut will be closed for Halloween, according to the release. Connecticut Insider, while additional information about New Jersey And New York stores were not available after the November 2 closing deadline.
