Vice President Kamala Harris is hoping to win the Latino vote in battleground states including Nevada, where she is attending a rally in Las Vegas on Thursday night (Oct. 31) with a Mexican rock band. “These artists and public figures are trusted voices by millions of Americans who listen to their music, follow them on social media or are otherwise inspired by them,” the campaign said in a press release. “The Harris-Waltz campaign believes that by using their votes to determine the stakes of this election, it will further encourage and mobilize people to get out to vote.”

With five days until Election Day on Tuesday (Nov. 5), Nevada, considered a swing state, is expected to play a decisive role in the presidential election. Latinos make up about 30% of Nevada’s population, and nationwide, an estimated 36.2 million Latinos are eligible to vote this year, up from 32.3 million in 2020, according to Pew Research Center.

Mana has a long history of using his platform to encourage Latino voters to make their voices heard during US presidential elections. They also denounced Donald Trump’s racist rhetoric since he launched his first presidential campaign in 2015, when the Republican nominee called Mexicans “rapists” and “criminals.” During their Latin At that year’s Grammy Awards, Mana pulled out a banner with Los Tigres del Norte that read, “Latinos United, Don’t Vote for Racists.”
