Trump brought the family of a Marine Corps veteran who was shot and killed in Mexico on stage during his rally in Nevada, trying to highlight the failures of immigration policy.

The former president recounted how Nicholas Douglas Kets, a Marine veteran from Arizona, was killed a suspected Mexican cartel member in Northern Mexico a couple of weeks ago and pointed to the Kets family in the crowd that eventually took the stage.

“(Nicholas) was brutally gunned down on a highway and murdered by members of the Mexican cartel,” Trump said.

The family met with both Trump and Vance in recent days and decided to support the Republican nomination. They had previously said That Washington Equizor that they were overwhelmed by the concern and deep support that Trump and Vance expressed to them in private meetings.

“President Trump gave me 15 minutes of his time to talk about what we can do. I asked him for some things and he helped,” said retired Army Lt. Col. Warren Douglas Kets, the father of the slain Marine, who said he had no intention of speaking at the rally.

“I can’t thank you enough, sir. I can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done for my family in terms of bringing attention to it; this was not reported in the media,” he added. “It was this policy that contributed to the murder of my son. These policies contribute to the deaths of other Americans.”
