Prince William Earthshot Prize Ceremony: Find out how it will focus on climate change

Prince William is ready for a star-studded Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony. The event in question is the fourth event of William’s visit to South Africa.

The Earthshot Prize is reported to begin on November 4th this year. Aiming at climate change and more, the green carpet at this year’s eco-event will be the longest ever at previous events, according to organizers.

What’s more, Prince William’s aides said the event would be the royal icon’s annual “Super Bowl moment.”

Next, talking about the event that is scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, on the penultimate day of the event, that is, November 6, 2024, one of the most exciting topics will be discussed.

Here, the Earthshot Prize will focus on the harmful causes of fast fashion and its impact on the African continent.

For those who don’t know, millions of clothing items are buried in landfills in the region every year.

According to PEOPLE, the 90-minute green carpet before the show will be hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, a Nigerian television personality. The Earthshot Prize will be co-hosted by South African rapper and presenter Nomuzi Mabena.

For those interested, the green carpet will be streamed live on YouTube this year, for the first time with a focus on sustainable clothing, according to Hannah Jones, CEO of The Earthshot Prize.

You might be even more intrigued to know that the Earthshot Prize focuses on five different categories, such as Protecting and Restoring Nature, Cleaning Our Air, Revitalizing Our Oceans, Building a Zero-Waste World, and Fixing Our climate.”

The fashion industry was targeted by the Earthshot Prize because the initiative aims to make it “green”, Jones said.

In her statement, the CEO even added that the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all global carbon dioxide emissions, creating a huge amount of waste.

Moreover, for those who are not aware, the same reason in Ghana is an even more alarming topic. However, this year’s Earthshot Prize finalist, Green Africa Youth, is working tirelessly to solve climate problems using innovative methods.

The main show will be hosted by Billy Porter and South African TV presenter Bonang Matheba.

Meanwhile, the actress Nina Dobrev and model Heidi Klum are among the Earthshot Prize winners.

The event was founded by Prince William back in 2020.
