Russia’s Foreign Minister complained that Turkish weapons were “killing Russian soldiers” in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed regret that Türkiye continues to supply military supplies to Ukraine.

Details: Lavrov expressed gratitude for Turkey’s efforts to “contribute to the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis (war – ed.)”, noting in particular the so-called “peace agreements” in Istanbul in March 2022 (which, according to him, were “undermined by the Anglo-Saxons”).

Quote: “Unfortunately, Ankara continues military-technical cooperation with the (Kyiv) regime. Turkish weapons are used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to kill Russian soldiers and civilians,” Lavrov added.

According to him, this cannot but cause surprise, given the statements of the Turkish leadership about their readiness to mediate between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

Türkiye criticized Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine from the outset and provided military and humanitarian aid to Kyiv.

At the same time, Ankara has not suspended economic cooperation with Moscow or joined international sanctions against it, despite US attempts to gradually close loopholes to circumvent its restrictions.

In September, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described his country’s relations with Russia as multifaceted and said they would continue to develop.
