Gotham’s most famous villain has arrived on streaming sooner than expected. Joker: Folie á Deux became available to watch from home on October 29, less than a month after its theatrical release.

The film can now be rented/purchased on digital platforms such as Prime VideO And Apple TV.

Todd Phillips’ quirky comic book musical starring Joaquin Phoenix as the eponymous supervillain and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn flopped at the box office. Ticket sales have lagged far behind expectations since its release earlier this month, which helps explain the accelerated streaming release date.

There is no doubt that a significant portion of DC fans who have allowed bad reviews They won’t let them watch the $200 million sequel in theaters, but will still prefer to watch the long-awaited film starring Gaga from home.

In his review, Diversity Chief film critic Owen Gleiberman writes that “the concept is bold, but the execution in a film that takes a step back from the danger of ‘Joker’ is not so bold.”

“It may be ambitious and at first glance outrageous,” he continues, “but at its core it is an overly cautious continuation.”

In the film, Phoenix reprises his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck (who later becomes an infamous enemy of Batman) and conspires with GagaKinky Harley. The story begins in the famous Arkham Asylum, where the Joker is locked up at the end of the first film, when Arthur has a “cute date” with Harley. After a chance meeting, they fall madly and deeply in love and plan to break out of their straitjackets to conquer the world outside their padded cells.
