Northglenn neighbors respond to deadly shooting at Halloween party

NORTHGLENNE, CO. A terrifying Halloween scene unfolded for neighbors in Northglenn after fatal shooting at house party early Friday.

Just after midnight, officers with the Northglenn Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at a house party on Belford Drive. The department said its officers arrived at the scene and found several people injured by gunfire.

One person died on the spot, police said. Two more people taken to the hospital also died. Neither had been identified as of Friday afternoon.

In addition, three more people were taken to hospital and continue to receive treatment. There was no information about their conditions.

In total, six people were shot.

Denver7 spoke with neighbor Kimberly Waling, who lives across the street from the home where the shooting happened.

Waling said she has lived in the area her entire life and has never witnessed anything like this before.

“Everyone was here to trick-or-treat — I mean, I walked through here with my baby a few hours ago,” she said. “To go from having fun with your kids to now, you know, unfortunately, something like this happens. It’s sad. This is true.”

Waling said she heard what she thought were fireworks before realizing something was wrong.

“We just heard a lot of screaming,” she said. “I didn’t understand what was happening. And then they called all the police and just said, “Everybody needs to stay inside.”

She said all her neighbors, many of whom had lived there for a long time, came together for each other during the tragedy.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office will release the names of the deceased individuals once their families and friends are notified.

Northglenn police said they believe multiple shooters were potentially involved in the incident. As of Friday afternoon, no suspects were in custody and no suspect information was available.
