Almost 470 thousand people are leaving Lebanon after the start of Israel’s military operation – Society and culture

BEIRUT, November 2. /TASS/. At least 469,000 people have fled Lebanon since Israel launched a military operation against the Lebanon-based Shiite party Hezbollah, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Lebanon said.

The statement noted that, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, 25,000 Lebanese have arrived in Iraq.

On September 23, Israel launched an offensive called Operation Northern Arrows, targeting Hezbollah military installations and carrying out massive air strikes throughout Lebanon. On the night of October 1, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced a ground operation in the border areas of southern Lebanon.
