Robert Downey Jr. on recreating the artificial intelligence of fictional character Tony Stark: “I intend to sue everyone...”

Robert Downey Jr. recently appeared on the On With Kara Swisher podcast, where he said he intends to “sue all future CEOs” who allow artificial intelligence (AI) – created a version of his iconic image Iron Man aka Tony Stark. He said that while he doesn’t think Marvel executives will ever recreate the character, if they do, he will posthumously begin a legal battle.

Here’s what Robert Downey Jr. said

“I intend to sue all future leaders,” Downey said. “I’m not worried about them stealing my character’s soul because there are three or four guys and girls who are making all the decisions anyway, and they would never do that to me, with me or without me,” he said.
Podcast host Kara Swisher noted that these executives will eventually be replaced. “Well, you’re right,” Downey said. “Here I would like to state that I intend to sue all future leaders just like that.”
“You’ll be dead,” Swisher said, to which Downey responded, “But my law firm will still be very active.”

When Hollywood Actors Had Problems with AI

In 2023, the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) demanded restrictions on the use of AI. The union then sought to ensure that actors were informed if artificial intelligence systems copied their voices or performances.
“It is with deep disappointment that we report that industry leaders have walked away from the negotiating table after refusing to oppose our latest proposal,” SAG-AFTRA said in a statement. “These companies refuse to protect performers from AI replacement, they refuse to raise your wages to keep up with inflation, and they refuse to share a tiny portion of the enormous income YOUR work brings them,” the actors guild added.

Anil Kapoor was included in Time’s list of the most influential people in the field of artificial intelligence.

Earlier this year, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor was named one of Time magazine’s 2024 list of the most influential people in artificial intelligence. Back in 2023, Kapoor filed a case in the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his name, likeness, likeness, personality, voice and various other attributes of his personality from misuse of all shades online. The high court then passed an interim order prohibiting misuse of the actor’s name, image, voice and other attributes of his personality, including his popular catchphrase ‘jakaas’.
