Apple offers free repair of defective iPhone 14 Plus with faulty camera

Over the past few months, there have been numerous posts on Reddit and the official Apple product forum about iPhone 14 plus An issue where the camera app displays a black screen instead of previewing the frame. It looks like Apple has finally heard about the complaints and has launched a service program to help affected owners.

“Apple has determined that the rear camera on a very small percentage of iPhone 14 Plus devices may not have a preview. The affected devices were manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024.” speaks company.

iPhone 14 Plus owners experiencing camera issues can now get their devices fixed for free. Users can either visit their nearest Apple Store or authorized service provider or mail in their device.

The camera problem seems to have reared its head in a number of different ways. Some users experienced only the main camera being affected, but others reported that the main and ultra-wide sensors were displaying a blank screen in the camera app. Several user reports mention that accessing the front camera also resulted in a blank preview.

“This has been going on for a couple of days now. The front camera works fine, but the rear camera does not respond. The screen is black when the rear camera is on.” speaks Reddit report. Measures such as a hard reset or software update did not provide any respite.

“I contacted the local store where I bought the phone. They have a partnership with Apple, so the phone was sent to an Apple repair shop and repaired under warranty. I didn’t pay anything,” states the affected user in the same thread.

“I’m new, I just got the phone yesterday, set everything up, and then I saw that the front camera didn’t work, just a black screen.” writes another iPhone 14 Plus owner on the Apple discussion forum.
