The Toronto Raptors may not be winning games, but they have been erratic, like a dinosaur fighting over a bone, and have covered the spread in five straight games.

And wouldn’t you know it, they’ll be the underdogs again as they welcome another Raptors great to town when they host DeMar DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings.

My Kings vs. Raptors predictions explain why I like the Raptors to keep this prediction close, at least early on. check out mine NBA Pick in this match on Saturday, October 2.

Prediction for the match Raptors – Kings

My pick: Raptors
Over 118 first half (-120 at PointsBet Canada)

My analysis

Toronto Raptors suffer another defeat – this time from LeBronto and the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the Raps’ fourth straight loss and they are now 1-5 on the season.

It didn’t help Scotty Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, Bruce BrownAnd Kelly Olynyk have missed most of the season so far. But despite being short-handed, the Raptors didn’t use that as an excuse and played most of their opponents tough.

Somewhat surprisingly, the Raptors’ fast-paced offense is what keeps them afloat in these games. Toronto enters this game seventh in pace and 14th in offensive rating, doing everything they can inside the three-point line. The Raptors allow the fifth-most shots per game and the third-most three-pointers made per game.

Meanwhile, Sacramento Kings there is no shortage of attacking talent and the trio DeMar DeRozan, Domantas SabonisAnd De’Aaron Fox he shouldn’t have much trouble scoring against a Raptors team that ranks dead last in defensive rating and allows a league-high 125.2 points per game.

While the Kings look like they have improved defensively this season, they also play at a high tempo and have allowed 115 or more points in three of their five games. The potentially high pace of this match has me wondering about the over, but with both teams playing their second game in as many nights, I’m sticking with the first half.

Raptors vs. Kings in one game

Over 118.5 in the first half

Grady Dick Over 2.5 Threes

Domantas Sabonis Over 6.5 assists

One of the reasons the Raptors offense has become respectable is the development Grady Dick.

The sophomore shooting guard finished his rookie season on a high note and has taken it to the next level this season. On the season, Dick is averaging 20.8 points per game, and the last four games have been especially impressive. Over those four games, he scored 25 points three times, including shooting 39.4% from 3-point range on 8.3 attempts per game.

One area where the Kings are a little sloppy is on the perimeter. Sacramento allows the fifth-most number of opponent 3-point attempts per game. Give me Grady to hit at least three threes tonight.

Meanwhile, another interesting match to watch will be Sabonis vs. Jacob Poeltl. The Kings star continues to do his thing, averaging 22.4 points, 11.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.

In the upcoming matchup with Poeltl, I expect Sabonis to push the ball out of bounds a little more and increase his passing numbers.

Raptors vs. Kings Spread and Over/Under Analysis

  • The Raptors opened this game as 6.5-point home underdogs and bettors quickly pounced on the Kings, and the spread is now 8.5.
  • The Raptors have been a great bet this season with their up-tempo offense, but I would favor them in the first half as they play the second half back-to-back.
  • The total reached 229.5 and the players bowled the over and the total now stands at 234.5 as of Saturday afternoon.
  • The combination of Toronto’s high-speed offense and lack of defense has made the Raptors a great bet for the over, going 5-1 O/L this season.
