Lamar Jackson couldn’t handle the former Pittsburgh Steelers champion

PITTSBURGH — Adding salt to the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver’s woes this season was the trade the Carolina Panthers made to send Diontae Johnson to the AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens.

At a press conference earlier this week, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Johnson should be ready to play, meaning a start against the Steelers in two weeks at Acresure Stadium seems likely.

Ravens cornerback Lamar Jackson spoke about the addition, sharing his thoughts on Johnson both before and after his departure. added to the list.

“I couldn’t stand him when he was in Pittsburgh.”Jackson said. “But his performance is great. Great separation, great route runner, he’s a home run hitter.”

While Jackson doesn’t play both sides of the ball and therefore doesn’t face Johnson directly, he will be watching every time Johnson takes the field. The 28-year-old’s ability to create separation and run routes with excellent speed has given him 495 yards and three touchdowns in nine career games against the Ravens.

Baltimore has faced some challenges on the recruiting front this year. In a Week 8 loss to the Cleveland Browns, Rashod Bateman dropped a deep ball that he lost in the sun on third-and-long, completely stopping the Ravens’ comeback for almost one play.

Although Johnson had issues with drops when he was with the Steelers, the problem seemed to have subsided significantly during his time with the Panthers.

It’s important to note that the Steelers’ defense is playing much better than last year. Beanie Bishop And Joey Porter Jr. both have a significant impact.

The Steelers, as previously mentioned, will host the Ravens in a Week 11 matchup before both teams meet again at M&T Bank Stadium during Week 16.
