Show review of MEAN GIRLS at Playhouse Square

Show review of MEAN GIRLS at Playhouse Square

This article was written by a student writer from the Her Youngstown Campus chapter.

Have you ever wanted to watch a fun show on Broadway? If the answer is yes, I’ll introduce you to an amazing Broadway comedy. MEAN GIRLS. The Broadway musical Mean Girls is about a teenage girl named Cady who moves from Africa to the United States to attend a high school in Evanston, Illinois called Northshore High School. Cady then meets Janice and Damian, who go to North Shore School, and they escort her around the school and show her different groups of people until a powerful trio of girls named Plastics appear.

I went to see this show on Halloween in Cleveland, Ohio with the head of social media at HerCampus. Kelly Wilson. This show was one of the best shows I have seen at Playhouse Square and I highly recommend that you either go to this show or watch the musical version of this show. This hit Tina Fey comedy was “so entertaining” and got so much attention. When Playhouse Square announced this musical, I knew I had to get tickets! However, there was a lot I liked about this series, some scenes more than others, as you would expect. My favorite scene from this musical was the song “Meet the Plastics” when Regina, Karen and Gretchen sat at the table and came out on stage. As soon as Kelly and I sat down, I noticed the costumes in this show were out of this world. Once Kelly and I were seated on the balcony, we had to move due to a seat change at the beautiful KeyBank State Theatre.

Overall, I would recommend going to see this fun show the next time it’s in Cleveland! This show made me laugh in ways I never expected, never knew I could. I feel like the overall rating of this series is 17+ because of some of the scenes in this production. This show is rated 10/10 and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good laugh.
