  • A Cybertruck owner found a homemade answer to a problem Tesla service technicians couldn’t seem to solve.
  • After replacing the windshield, his electric car developed wind noise, and Tesla’s attempts to fix it were unsuccessful.
  • Using 9mm thick seals ultimately solved the problem at the low cost of $13.

Cybertruck owner was so upset TeslaAfter being unable to fix the problem with his electric truck, he took matters into his own hands and fixed it with a DIY part for $13.

Jay Larson, an orthopedist from Arizona, posted on his page MyCybertruckLife X talks about how he was forced to take action after becoming frustrated with Tesla dealers’ attempts to solve the wind noise problem in his pickup truck. The truck, which had been completely quiet the first time he bought it, began to make a high-pitched whistling sound. bulletproof windshield was replaced due to a manufacturing defect.

Larson was adamant that the Cybertruck didn’t make any noise until the screen was replaced, so he returned to his dealer in Tempe, Arizona, expecting the technicians to fix it. They made one attempt, telling Larson that the problem had gone away, but he disagreed and asked them to check again.

This time he was told that the noise was normal for Cybertruck and that they could not reproduce the sound he was complaining about, even at highway speeds. And for these reasons, they said there was no solution available, even though Larson insisted there was nothing wrong with the original windshield. A classic case of “They all do it, sir.”

Unsatisfied with this answer and still irritated by the whistling wind, Larson began searching for his own solution. And he found it on Amazon, where he bought a roll of 9mm thick silicone seal that fit perfectly into the gap at the top of the windshield. He removed some of the backing from the adhesive tape, but not all of it, saying that the seal was so tight that you didn’t need much adhesive. He also had a suspicion that it would be more difficult to attach if all of the adhesive surface was exposed.

Larson says that truck it now runs silently even at 90 mph (145 km/h) and cost him just $12.99 to repair. But he didn’t have to spend a penny.
