Lycoming Football Club drives past Juniata on Saturday | News, Sports, Vacancies

HUNTINGDON — Sophomore Jay Huber threw for 316 yards and two touchdowns and sophomore Terrence Oliver rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns to pace the Lycoming College football team’s offense and defense returned four interceptions en route to a 45-4 Landmark Conference victory. 0 in Knox. Lycoming (4-4 overall, 2-2 Landmark) gained 590 yards of offense and held Juniata to 309 yards on five passes. It was the most yards the offense had gained since setting a school record of 640 yards in 2019 against FDU-Florham.

Huber finished 16 of 19 for 316 yards and two scores. He was intercepted once, but found junior Dawson Debebe for an 80-yard scoring strike, and sophomore Ross Eyer, a Muncie graduate, added three catches for 75 yards and a score. Senior Billy Coppock also caught three passes for 59 yards. Oliver rushed 24 times for 192 yards and three scores, passing for 190 yards for the second week in a row.

Freshman Khalil Johnson picked off two passes, and senior Jeramiah Cooper and junior Tyler Marshall completed each. Marshall led the team with 12 tackles, while sophomore Chris Kearns added 10 tackles, 2.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks. Junior Jordan Rinehart also recovered a fumble forced by Johnson.

The Warriors launched their first drive when Huber found Iyer for a 16-yard interception, and two plays later, Huber hit Iyer on a crossing drive and he beat the cornerback to score on a 47-yard reception.

After Juniata’s punt was stopped at the 30, the Warriors marched 70 yards in seven plays before Oliver rushed in from 10 yards out. Another Juniata drive stopped at the Lycoming 44 and Oliver hit another one, this time from 52 yards. After Juniata’s punt, the Warriors struck again quickly, with Huber finding Debebe behind his defender and firing an 80-yard strike to make it 28-0.

Lycoming’s fifth drive ended with Oliver’s 45-yard score to make it 35-0 with 12:02 left in the second quarter. Cooper’s interception with 1:39 left in the half led to Lycoming’s final score of the period, with freshman Kyle Flack kicking a 21-yard field goal as the half expired.

Lycoming scored again in the fourth quarter, driving 75 yards on 12 plays before sophomore Spencer Ferguson plowed in from a yard out.

The Eagles drove into Lycoming territory on each of their 10 drives, but five of six drives between the first and third quarters ended in turnovers. Three drives ended in downs and two ended in punts.

Calvin German went 17-of-31 for 157 yards and Alex Eaton rushed 16 times for 57 yards to lead Juniata’s offense. Sean Hakanson caught six passes for 75 yards.
