Winterville voters remember last day of early voting

WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – With early voting ending at 3:00 pm on November 2nd, some voters are wondering about the time spent at the polls.

Holly Jennings was present throughout many days of early voting, handing out sample ballots for Republicans.

She said everything went smoothly as many polling stations were expecting record voter turnout.

“I think it’s really important to come out and greet people and make it a positive event and always thank them for coming out to vote,” Jennings said. “It’s such a privilege and I think people should be as active as possible in what’s going on in their community.”

Jennings worked with her friend Teresa Pope to campaign for Democratic candidates.

Both agree on the importance of voting at the polls.

“The prices of rent and food and everything else are going up, so I think everyone should have a say in voting this year,” Pope said. “So much happened in 2024.”

Other voters at the polls said early voting was an overall positive experience and encouraged those who missed it to still vote on Election Day.

LaToya Williams was one of those voting at the polls on the last day of early voting.

“This election… I think it’s up to the people to kind of make sure that some of the policies that affect us and those who come behind us either stand or prevent certain policies from happening, so it’s important to make sure that our The voice is heard,” Williams said.

Jennings said early voting has brought the community together: “It’s actually kind of funny, I think people in line are discovering they have a lot in common. Normal people, so it’s kind of a fun time. Good attitude.”

Many voters say that regardless of the election outcome, the best way to help our country move forward is through unity.
