Special needs schools in Stoke-on-Trent to receive £5.9m

Councilor Sarah Jane Colclough, cabinet member for education, said she was pleased they were increasing the number of SEND school places in the city.

In addition to these schemes, the council is also creating a reserve fund of £1 million to meet any sudden increase in demand for places in Stoke-on-Trent schools next year.

In recent years, authorities have focused on expanding secondary locations to cope with the demographic bulge – a wave expected to peak in September 2025.

Cabinet ministers will be asked to approve the schools capital program at a meeting on Tuesday.
