More than $500 million in Canberra consulting funding to be cut as NDIS, Department of Defense and Australian Taxation Office hit hardest

Consulting firms working for the Department of Defence, the National Disability Insurance Scheme and the Australian Taxation Office will be hit hardest by a new plan to remove more than $500 million of work from the embattled consultancy sector this financial year.

The revelation is contained in a new report that details for the first time the value of work considered core to the public service, which is carried out by external parties and will be returned to government departments and agencies. The main job includes activities such as policy development and drafting laws and regulations.
