Watch Fontaines DC sing Antonio Vega’s “Tesoros” in Spanish in Madrid

Fontaines, DC A cover of Antonio Vega’s “Tesoros” took place in Madrid on Saturday (November 2), with guitarist Carlos O’Connell performing the song in Spanish.

The Irish group has just started its activities. European leg of their “Romance” tourin support their fourth self-titled albumand arrived at the WiZink Center in the Spanish capital armed with something special for the local crowd.

As shown in the fan-made video below, the band performed a version of “Tesoros,” a track from Spanish singer-songwriter Antonio Vega’s 1991 first album No Me Iré Mañana, with O’Connell, who is half-Spanish, contributing two verses of the song on original language, playing an acoustic guitar.

Before that, Grian Chatten and company. will get down to business their UK and Ireland tour in 2024which will take place in November and December. This stay includes two nights at Alexandra Palace in the capital.

In addition, the group announced a major show at Cardiff Castle at the end of July 2025.. It will join two other already announced big shows for next year. in London’s Finsbury Park, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 5 July.. This will be their biggest performance to date with support from Amil and the sniffers And Patella.

Soon after this, they will go to Wythenshawe Park in Manchester August 15, where they will be joined English teacher and again the kneecap. The outdoor venue has a total capacity of 26,000 fans and tickets went on sale earlier this month.

This summer the album “Romance” was released, becoming the fourth album and the first on the new label XL Recordings. IN brilliant five star review belonging James Ford-produced recording, NME shared, “Romance offers moments of wonder and seriousness, and also the occasional sense of foreboding.”

Regarding the direction of the album, the group told NME they wanted to make a clear departure from the rock sound their debut album, ‘Dogrel‘.

“When too many people understand you creatively, it’s like flies settling on your clothes and on your face. Every now and then you have to shake them off just to see who you are again. This is what we wanted to do,” he said.

The group was recently named by Elton John as “the best band of the moment”and last month announced new tour dates for Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
