“Donald Trump doesn’t speak like a man who lived in Washington for 30 years,” Rubio began, defending his statement.

“Education weapon on her face? Brennan intervened.

– No, but that’s not what he said. Margaret, you guys know this. Come on, everyone knows exactly what he said,” he retorted.

Brennan argued that the quote showed Trump perceived his remarks as a threat, to which Rubio responded that it was taken out of context.

“He said he would give her a gun so she could get involved,” Rubio said, countering accusations from Cheney and some liberal figures who claimed Trump threatened to put Cheney to death. “You don’t usually give a gun to someone who is facing execution, as most of the media makes it out to be.”

“What he expressed is nothing new,” he continued. “This is a point that people in both parties have been making for decades: You’re all for war, and it’s easy to be for war when you’re in some fancy building and you’re safe and sound. in Washington, DC. Let’s see how ready you are for war when you get into battle yourself.”

Florida The Republican then suggested that the controversy over the quote was indicative of a broader trend of bias in the media.

“I think it’s really not just unfair; it’s blatant to see it reported as it was, along with other things that are there,” he said. “I have never seen such a concerted effort. And look, I’ve always believed that there is bias because no one is unbiased, but I’ve never seen such a concerted effort as what I’ve seen, especially in the last two weeks, among many Media in this country to, in some cases, breathlessly distort and lie about what is being said and create, fabricate these moments against Donald Trump, I’ve never seen that before.”

The controversy began Friday when Trump suggested sending Cheney to war.

“She is a radical war hawk. Let’s imagine that she is standing with a rifle and nine barrels are shooting at her. FINE? Let’s see what she thinks about this,” he said. “You know, when the gun is pointed at her face. You know, they’re all military hawks when they sit in Washington in a nice building and say, “Gee… let’s send 10,000 troops straight into the jaws of the enemy.”

“But she’s a stupid person,” Trump continued. “I had a lot of meetings with people and she always wanted to go to war with people.”

Cheney interpreted these statements as a death threat.

“This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten death to those who oppose them. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel and unstable man who wants to be a tyrant,” Cheney said in a post on X with the hashtags #Womenwillnotbesilenced and #VoteKamala.

Cheney’s interpretation quickly gained popularity in Democratic and anti-Trump circles. The anti-Trump report was headlined: “TRUMP CALLS FOR CHENEY’S EXECUTION.”
