How Kim Kardashian channeled Princess Diana in a plunging white dress and cross necklace

Kim Kardashian often honored celebrity fashion icons in her own actions and clothing choices, whether wear a Marilyn Monroe dress for the Met Gala or an appearance at Hulu documentary series In fashion: 90s (A TV schedule for 2024 entry) in honor of Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Now Princess Diana has the reality star’s seal of approval as Kardashian paired a plunging white dress with a large cross necklace for a charity event in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

We’re not talking about any old cross. Kim Kardashian showed off the iconic Cross of Attallah pendant that Princess Di wore back in the 1980s. American Horror Story: Gentle star as reported bought the necklace at a Sotheby’s auction in 2023 for a whopping $200,000, but had never worn the necklace in public before.

Kim Kardashian, who attended the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala on November 2, paired the jewelry with a floor-length white dress with a plunging neckline and an ivory jacket, which she wore off the shoulders. Amethyst Cross held a pearl necklace next to another pearl necklace and choker, nodding at how Princess Diana designed a necklace for the Birthright charity gala in 1987, which you can see below:

William and Harry’s mother was simply a work of art, pairing the statement piece with her royal velvet purple Catherine Walker gown.

The Attallah Cross was created in the 1920s by jeweler Garrard. It consists of several large square-cut amethysts surrounded by 5.25 carats of round-cut diamonds. Although Diana never owned the necklace, she borrowed it from Naim Attallah several times, and apparently no one else has worn it to this day.

I love that both the late Princess Di and Kim Kardashian wore the Cross of Attallah at a charity event, and did so in a way that reflected the fashion trends of their eras. Although both looks featured pearls, Diana’s necklace was long, reminiscent of 80s fashion icons such as Madonna.

This is certainly another step in Kim Kardashian’s career. celebrity memorabilia. Apart from borrowing (and possibly harmful?) Bye Kardashian The star certainly loves acquiring unique fashion pieces, but she also seems to be quite strategic in how she chooses to display them. It’s worth wondering if and when we’ll see the Cross of Attallah again, or what the next big celebrity thing will be.

In the meantime, we’re still waiting for the next season Kardashian premiere. Although the series (available for streaming via Subscribe to Hulu) has been renewed for at least another 20 episodes, with no premiere date, it looks like there may be a Season 6 coming to the small screen next year.
