‘Boy Meets World’ Stars Recall ‘Intense’ Kissing Scene with Jennifer Love Hewitt: ‘Wow, That’s Awkward’

“I don’t remember it going that far,” star Will Friedle said after re-watching his scene with then-girlfriend Hewitt.

In the episode, which is a parody of various slasher films, the cast, including Friedle’s Eric Matthews, Fishel’s Topanga Lawrence and Strong’s Shawn Hunter, are pursued by an unknown killer after being trapped in a school during detention. Although the episode’s plot ultimately turned out to be a dream, in retrospect, Friedle, Strong and Fishel agreed that the moment with Hewitt didn’t make sense and was too heated to handle, even though everyone on set knew the actors were seeing each other. at that time.

“(It was) very intense,” Fishel recalls of the scene between Friedle and a guest star whom he briefly dated in 1996. “I don’t even know how none of us thought, ‘We know they’re a couple in real life, but does that make sense on the show?’

For his part, Friedle said re-watching the moment for the podcast took him by surprise. “I don’t remember it going that far where I thought, ‘Oh my God,’” he said. “And then he just kissed her on the neck and everything. It was seriously like, wow, this is awkward.”

The trio suggested that the decision to include the scene in the series was purely for laughs, but they all agreed that it ultimately felt inappropriate because most viewers likely had no idea that the actors had an off-screen relationship.

“It was very intense,” Friedle continued. “And there were people who even told me, ‘Oh, when I was a kid, I didn’t realize you guys were together.’ So it was like, what the hell is going on?”

The kisses turned out to be the hottest moment in the series during its entire run. “It’s like a real kiss,” Friedle said. “This is the most intense kiss we’ve had in the seven years of the show: right there in the hallway, then me kissing her neck while she’s trying to talk and everything. Like, we haven’t even said our names yet. It’s intense.”
