The famous duo first met back in the 80s while working for ITV Granada Television, before tying the knot in 1986.

Appearing on Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast, Richard made a candid confession about his long-time partnership with Judy.

Richard said he sleeps in the spare room when presenting Good Morning Britain because he has to wake up in the middle of the night and doesn’t want to disturb Judy’s sleep.

“When I do Good morning Britain “I sleep in the spare room,” Richard admitted.

I probably sleep a little better in bed with Judy, but I’m fine on my own.”

As for the possibility of disrupting Judy’s sleep with early awakenings, he added: “I wouldn’t think of doing that to Judy.

“Besides everything else, Judy and her dream, you don’t touch.”

Richard and Judy I was recently thinking about their relationship in their documentary on channel 5“Our Best Moments – In Our Own Words” aired in the summer.

The pair spoke about their first meeting in Granada and the initial chemistry between them.

At the time, Judy was married to journalist David Henshaw, and Richard was on the verge of divorce from his first wife Linda.

Judy said: “I remember you coming into the newsroom on your first day, you were wearing a ridiculous sky blue suit… you just looked like a PR guy.

“I was assigned as your caretaker, in Grenada there was a system where a newbie was assigned a father or mother to literally show him the ropes and I was your mother.”

Recalling, Richard said: “I suddenly felt two hands on my neck and heard a voice say, ‘I’m your mum’ and I turned around and it was a beautiful blonde.

“It seemed inappropriate, so I was like, ‘What??’ So yes, she was my designated mom.”

Talking about their first kiss, the couple said it happened after a day’s work in Blackpool in the back of a black taxi.

“We filmed in Blackpool, we spent a really long day filming promo, we really hit it off. We ended up taking a black taxi as the team had left and we got back to Manchester which was a good hour drive.

“It was in the darkness of the taxi that we sort of fell in love and kissed.”

It comes after their daughter Chloe revealed her parents “really struggled” at times during their 38-year marriage.

The couple married, then had Jack and Chloe, and together enjoyed a successful presenting career, appearing on shows such as This Morning and their own tea party magazine show.

And in a new interview, daughter Chloe, 37, who recently split from husband James Haskell, spoke about how her parents managed their four-decade relationship and revealed the secret to their long-lasting union.

When asked how her parents managed to maintain such a long marriage, she said: Magazine Closer: “They would honestly say the same thing: the secret to their long marriage is not to get divorced.

“They were together for over 40 years and during that time there were times when they really struggled, but they kept going and stayed together. I don’t think it was ever bad enough for them to break up.”

The personal trainer praised the couple for setting a “pretty gold standard” and then noted that she “hit the jackpot” when it came to parenting.

Despite their successful union, Khloe admitted she never felt any “pressure” from her parents to continue her marriage.
