2024 Election Updates: Trump Says He ‘Shouldn’t Have Left’ White House

Speaking at his second rally of the day in North Carolina, former President Donald Trump called himself the “father of fertilization,” describing conversations with the Alabama senator about in vitro fertilization techniques.

“I consider myself the father of fertilization,” Trump said to laughter from the audience, explaining his support for IVF, which has been in court limbo in Alabama since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

“Kathy Britt, the senator from Alabama, called. – Sir, you must help us. You must help us. I said, “Explain.” She said: “About what happened with IVF. The judge said: close all clinics throughout Alabama.” And she said, “Everyone is furious.” I said, “Explain it to me.” And when she explained, it took me about two minutes to understand it, and I came out with a very strong statement, all for it.”

Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for saying he would try to limit IVF treatments while distancing himself from the far-right think tank Project 2025 proposal.

“I’ve never read this. I don’t want to read it because that way I can be honest with you, I don’t want to read it. Some people got together. I guess they are extremely conservative, that’s good. Then they came up with a plan. But I told them I didn’t know about the plan. They seem to have a couple of people who work for me in administration or something like that. kind of plan, and it’s conservative, I guess. And they keep talking about Project 2025, but I said I don’t know about it… Everything she says is a lie.”
