Proposed new laws aim to reduce false alarms for fire services.

Firefighters are called incorrectly about 700 times a year

It is hoped the proposed new laws will limit the number of times firefighters are called out in error.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service receives around 700 calls to premises each year due to false alarms.

Finance Minister Alex Allinson will ask the House of Keys to consider the second reading of the Treasury (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill when it sits this week.

He says it will provide clearer legislation allowing fire departments to charge repeat offenders:
