Mike Tyson’s chances against Jake Paul increased due to postponed fight

When it was announced in April that Jake Paul would step into the ring with Mike Tyson for a sanctioned professional fight, some boxing fans questioned Paul’s ability to go toe-to-toe with the former heavyweight champion. But the bookmakers didn’t do it.

Thirty-one years younger than Tyson, Paul opened as a slight -145 favorite at BetMGM.

In the months since Tyson, 58, suffered a health problem that forced the fight to be moved from July 20 to November 15, Paul has become an even bigger favorite. At BetMGM, his odds to win are now -200. Tyson is +200, and the odds for a draw are +900.

Higher odds only make it more likely that bettors will bet Tyson to win. Back in May 80% of tickets and 70% money for the fight Tyson’s victory.

It’s hard to imagine a nearly 60-year-old man hanging out with a 27-year-old, but if there was one fighter to avoid betting against in this scenario, it would be Tyson. And as an outsider, Tyson feels no pressure to live up to his name. He can just fight. It’s scary to think that Tyson fights as freely as possible.
