Where to sell valuables in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Don’t know what to do with your valuables? Dragon Age: Guardian of the Veil? You’ll start amassing loot quite early in the RPG, exploring every nook and cranny and turning treasure chests into your backpack. But the game doesn’t make it clear what the values are for. Of course, you can sell them to a merchant, but they also have a secondary purpose: increasing the strength of the faction.

There are several ways to obtain loot in the game: from random merchants, through quests, or by finding it while questing in treasure-filled locations that you will frequent. With that said, here’s how values work in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

How to sell valuables

The first thing you can do with valuables is to sell them for cash, but only from sellers of a specific faction. They are marked on the map with a small shirt-shaped “Merchant” icon, unlike all the regular merchants you can find while wandering around the various regions of the game.

When you talk to a merchant, you can simply select the sell valuables option on the right and then “sell everything” to clear your inventory of all the loot you’ve been collecting. Before you do that, though, it’s worth talking a little about faction power and how it relates to values.

Faction Values and Reputation

Selling common valuables to a faction merchant gives you faction reputation – it’s easy enough – but you’re probably wondering why there are random merchants scattered around the map that only sell valuables. What’s the point of buying something you’re going to sell anyway?

Some valuables give you permanent listed bonuses when purchased, but the main reason is that certain valuables bring more faction power if you sell them to the right faction.. Let’s say I’m running around Dock Town and find a merchant selling the Compendium of the Dead, a rare, valuable item. From the description, the Sorrow’s Watch will really like this, so I head to the Necropolis Halls and sell it for extra reputation.

Valuable items give +3 (standard), then +8, +15 and +75 faction reputation if you find something really rare and suitable. As a general rule, be sure to look through valuable descriptions, especially unusual and rare ones, and then sell them to the appropriate person. If you’re not sure, here’s some information for those I’ve found so far:

As you can see, factions are interested in things that relate to them. Gray Wardens love Darkspawn, Shadow Dragons love Venatori, Lords of Fortune love dragons, and Antivan Ravens love wine and fine things. It is worth noting that some values have equal strength with all factionslike the Hat of the Divine.

If you want to be truly optimal, your best bet is to accumulate all your uncommons and rares, save the game, and then go through each faction and determine which will earn you the most reputation. Or just sell things however you want.
