Saints relieve head coach Dennis Allen of his duties

The New Orleans Saints announced today that head coach Dennis Allen was relieved of his duties.

Special Groups Coordinator Darren Rizzi was appointed interim head coach.

Allen was named head coach of the New Orleans Saints on February 8, 2022. He became the 17th head coach in franchise history.

“Dennis has been a part of our organization for many years. He is highly regarded in the NFL. He was extremely loyal and professional and most importantly a great football coach for us. All this makes today a very difficult day for me and our organization. ” said Saints owner Gail Benson. “However, this decision is one that I felt we needed to make at this time. I wish nothing but the best for the future for Dennis and his family. I and everyone in our organization will always treat with the highest respect.”

“YES. is an excellent football coach,” said Saints executive vice president and general manager Mickey Loomis. “We have had an avalanche of injuries this season. It bore fruit. YES. never made any excuses, he fought every day for this organization and this team and that’s what makes today disappointing. Dennis was an integral part of this organization. success for the better part of twenty years, He will be missed.”

The organization has not announced any other coaching changes.
