Detroit man will spend more than a decade in prison for drug trafficking operation in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) – A Detroit man was sentenced to more than ten years in federal prison Monday for his role in a drug trafficking operation in Morgantown.

Shakur Jones, 25, was sentenced to 12 years and seven months in prison for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Jones was supplier of methamphetamine, cocaine base and fentanyl to drug trafficking conspiracy in Morgantown, court documents say. More than a kilogram of methamphetamine was found in the Morgantown home, and a photo of 10 pounds of packaged methamphetamine was found on Jones’ phone.

Jones will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

Three other accused Nolan Eikleberry27, Morgantown; John Thomas, 46, of Morgantown; and Dorian Miles, 26, of Detroit also admitted to their roles in the drug trafficking conspiracy, officials said.

Eikleberry was sentenced in August 2024 to seven years and three months in prison. Thomas and Miles are still awaiting sentencing.

The case was investigated by the Mon-Metro Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
