KCPD motorcycle officer injured in crash resigned as recovery continues

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri police officer was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle Monday morning and continues his recovery and rehabilitation.

The officer was critically injured while on duty Wednesday, Oct. 16, in a crash near the intersection of Gregory Boulevard and Trost Avenue.

KCPD Police Chief Stacey Graves believed the eyewitness who saw the accident due to pressing the officer’s emergency button, giving paramedics the exact address to respond and treat the officer.

On Monday, Graves was among dozens of KCPD officers and civilian personnel gathered at Charles B. Wheeler Airport, where the officer was helped onto a medical plane for a flight to Denver.

In a post on social networkKCPD said the officer “faces a long road to recovery” and will undergo rehabilitation at an out-of-state hospital.
